iTunes and Billboard chart topping group Rebelution announces Winter 2010 tour with acclaimed reggae artist SOJA and hip-hop legends ZION-I.

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 25, 2009)— iTunes and Billboard chart topping group Rebelution announces their headlining Winter 2010 tour alongside acclaimed reggae artist SOJA and critically acclaimed hip-hop legends ZION-I. Continuing with their constant touring schedule, which saw them play over 70 shows and a dozen festivals this year, with their most recent trek across the country selling out many venues including markets in which the band had never previously performed.

Based in Santa Barbara, Rebelution will be headlining 39 performances nationwide throughout January, February, and March 2010. Venues will be in the one thousand to two thousand capacity range, 19 of them House of Blues main rooms. The band has rapidly grown into one of the most notable reggae artists in the music industry today, after the release of their sophomore album “Bright Side of Life” dominated the iTunes charts in August 2009, capturing the #3 spot for top albums downloaded in the United States in all genres, and the #1 spot in the reggae music genre. Rebelution went on to garner the #54 spot on the Billboard Top 200, #7 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums charts and #1 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums charts.

Rebelution recently finished a 52 city tour across the United States, playing sold out shows at venues such as The Fillmore in San Francisco, The House of Blues in West Hollywood, HOB Anaheim, HOB San Diego, Paradise Rock in Boston, The Note in Westchester, Neumos in Seattle, The Social in Orlando, Fox Theatre in Boulder, Norva in Norfolk and Music Farm in Charleston to name a few. They have shared the stage with artists such as The Offspring, 311, Slightly Stoopid, Willie Nelson, Damian Marley, Bob Dylan, and Ludacris.

Touring with Rebelution is Washington D.C.’s SOJA who released their third full-length album “Born in Babylon” in August 2009. The album debuted at #1 on the iTunes reggae charts, and #3 on Billboard’s Top Reggae Album charts. The band is known as a road warrior, averaging 150 shows a year visiting every major city in the United States, and playing internationally for crowds of up to 16,000 people. They have shared the stage with notable artists such as Citizen Cope, Matisyahu, Ben Harper, Slightly Stoopid, Damian Marley, Govt Mule, Umphrees McGee, and Steel Pulse.

Also touring with Rebelution is Oakland based, hip-hop legends ZION-I. The duo consists of producer and DJ AmpLive and emcee Zumbi. They are best known for their futuristic production techniques, using a mix of live instrumentation and samples, and their poetic, positive, and socially conscious lyrics.

Tickets for Rebelution, SOJA, and ZION-I’s winter 2010 tour go on sale Saturday, November 21.

GPGDS has played 500 shows in the past three years, touring relentlessly and developing a widespread grassroots following. The group has performed at premier venues and festivals across the U.S. including Red Rocks and Rothbury. LIVE UP! exemplifies the tight musicianship and dynamic live show experience Giant Panda is known for. The album was produced and mixed by the band’s sound engineer and show archivist Joel Scanlon. It complements their debut studio release Slow Down (2006).

LIVE UP! is the closing statement of Giant Panda’s former six-piece lineup, as they are now forging ahead as a quartet.

“The reality of this band is that we’re always evolving - musically, spiritually, and within our own circle,” says GPGDS bassist James Searl. “LIVE UP! documents the sound and chemistry that six people shared with each other and crowds around the nation.
Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad is currently on tour in their vegetable-oil fueled van and has already begun working on material for a new studio album.

It’s been two weeks since the official release of Stick Figure’s new album “Smoke Stack” which actually ended up dropping a couple days earlier than expected on iTunes. The album hit #1 on iTunes Top Reggae Album Charts and has stayed consistently in the top 3 spots since the release. Sitting along side notary acts such as Bob Marley, Matisyahu, Rebelution & SOJA just to name a few. As well as debuting in the Top 10 on the Billboard Reggae Album Charts at #8

Scott Woodruff after three successful albums under his belt has proven to be a talented individual. Scott played all the instruments, wrote, recorded and self produced all three of the albums but that is all about to change come 2010. Scott Woodruff has been joined by three talented musicians Brendan Dane on bass, Todd Smith on drums & Kevin Bong on keys. The band will be re-working and re-recording some older tunes as well as some new songs for the bands debut album tentatively called “Stick Figure EP” which will be dropping early 2010.

When you think East Coast reggae you think of bands like SOJA and John Brown’s Body. When you think West Coast Reggae, you think of bands like Slightly Stoopid, Pepper and Rebelution. What if I told you about a man with no limitations, Scott Woodruff, the mastermind behind the music of “Stick Figure” who is taking Roots Reggae Dub to new heights, sending smoke signals and gathering fans from all over. Scott has just dropped his third LP entitled “Smoke Stack” which he started writing after the release of his sophomore album “Burnin’ Ocean” which was awarded “Top 10 Best Reggae Albums” in 2008 by Apple iTunes.

Stick Figure’s latest album “Smoke Stack” captures a pure ambiance of expression with hard drum and bass intertwined with diverse echoes of dub laced, with all sorts of interesting knickknacks that keep you locked into the sound. Topped with strong, conscience lyrics that hit hard and spread like wild fire into your heart, you have no other choice but to keep on listening. Having seen Stick Figure grow as an artist for over three years, this is undoubtedly his best work to date. We were lucky to hear smoking songs prior to the release of the album like “Hawaii Song”, “Livin’ It” & “Smoke Stack” but you never expect it to be followed up with so many more killer tunes like “On2Night”, “Break of Day” & “Thick & Thin”…just to scratch the surface! I recommend this album for not just all reggae lovers but anyone who is looking for a fresh, original album that possess groovy roots dub rock with a positive message.
