Mishka “Talk About” Album Review

Mishka is about to release his newest album Talk About and that is exactly what is going to be going on with the release of this beautiful album.  Mishka has only released three albums since 1999 not including this most recent adventure “Talk About”, which will be his fourth studio album to date also not including the acoustic album that was released earlier this year.  Mishka is known for his soulful roots-reggae which encompasses socially conscious lyrics layered with seductive vocals, and hypnotic reggae grooves

Talk About is by far Mishka’s best album to date with new styles and sounds that hold both upbeat and slower tempo songs topped with positive and conscious lyrics.  Taking part in the album is Producer, Butch Walker who has recorded with notary acts such as Pete Yorn, Pink & Fall Out Boy.  Butch collaborated on two of the tracks on the album Give Them Love & Stars will be Shining to give them more of an overall grab to mainstream audiences.

The album starts off with Give Them Love an amazing tune that has the words to guide you through a beautiful life and the instrumental starts off with a little acoustic and throughout the song new instruments are added to bring the song more to life.  The next song on the album is Bitter Sweet which has kind of has an 80’s feel to it and you can’t help singing along to these lyrics, as they are simplistic but at the same time strong in meaning.  Keep on Loving is the next tune on the album that starts out with some keys followed by guitar and bass with lyrics expressing the love for someone and the love they share with you and to keep it strong.  Dead End Streets is the next tune on the album where we are introduced to some horns and heavy percussion topped with more conscious lyrics that we can’t get enough of.  Fallen to Rise is the next track on the album, a slower track with little rock guitar rifts accompanied by bongos to give it the perfect touch.  Can’t Get Enough that’s exactly what your thinking when you get to this track an upbeat, worldly tune that you can’t help moving to, even though it’s the shortest track on the album, it isn’t holding anything back.  Music of the Movement is the next track on the album and it brings you some rock steady, funky blues to get you moving and grooving all night long.

The next song on the album is just keep livin and in this track Mishka brings a piece of tropical Hawaii to us all with a simple message to live life.  I’m pretty sure if you close your eyes you can picture yourself anywhere in the sun with this tune playing.   The next song on the album is delivering us with Homegrown featuring legendary country star Willie Nelson simply a song about our beautiful friend Mary Jane.   The next track on the album is the titled track Talk About an acoustic track that will have you opening your mind up and asking yourself, what are we doing to ourselves in this world.    All Jokes Aside is the next song on the album, coming at you with a slow ambient melody that has you focused more on the message behind the  lyrics.  Stars Will be Shining is the next track on the album shining some hope of pure direction for you, the song is a beautiful tune with a killer guitar solo that has you mesmerized like constellations on a black blanket.   Shadow in the Shade is the next song on the album, a slow tempo song about looking for something that everyone wants but can’t always have because it’s only around sometimes.   There are two Bonus tracks on the album Still Burning and Way Out of Babylon. Still Burning is heavily driven with the bass along side the acoustic guitar and brings the fire to your soul. While “Way Out of Babylon” is an awesome little funky reggae track,  which flows perfect with it’s move-able melody.

Mishka has shown true growth  with this album Talk About and it is an amazing piece of art and balances perfectly between upbeat and slow tempo tunes that are true to your heart.  It’s nice to see something fresh and so alive from an up and coming artist that has already given us so much incredible music but believe me this is his best work to date, you don’t want to miss what everyone will be talking about this spring.

You can pick up the album exclusively on iTunes on March 23rd and the official street date is March 30th.  As of right now there are only two dates that Mishka has scheduled but I am sure they are putting together the “Talk About” tour as I write this.  To keep yourself in the loop with this artist please check out his website below
